Change Your Questions, Change Your Life

Have you ever wondered how asking the right questions can change your life?

The quality of the questions we ask ourselves often determines the quality of the answers we receive.

Asking the right questions has been a game-changer for me and many successful people, helping them find clarity and purpose.

So today, I want to share how asking the right questions can help you in various aspects of life.

I'll give some essential questions I ask myself regularly and how they have shaped my path, including my recent experience preparing for an international talk in Riyadh.

What You’ll Learn:

  • Importance of asking the right questions.
  • The problem with limiting questions.
  • The power of structured, intentional questioning.
  • Practical frameworks for better questions.

The Problem with Limiting Questions

We often don't realize the impact of the questions we ask ourselves daily. We ask limiting questions that lead to limited answers, restricting our potential and growth.

Example of Limiting Questions:

  • Why can't I do anything right? This question focuses on failures and can lead to feelings of inadequacy.
  • Why is this happening to me? This question fosters a victim mentality and doesn't encourage proactive problem-solving.
  • What if I fail? This question emphasizes fear and uncertainty, which can prevent taking action.
  • Why am I not good enough? This question reinforces self-doubt and negative self-perception.
  • Why does this always happen to me? This question suggests a sense of helplessness and inevitability.

These limiting questions lead to a lack of clarity, self-doubt, and a limited ability to see broader opportunities, restricting personal and professional growth.

Simply asking questions isn't enough.

It's essential to ask the right, empowering questions to unlock potential.

  3. Who did I help today? Considering how I've assisted others promotes empathy and strengthens social connections. It reinforces the value of contributing to others' well-being and can enhance my sense of purpose.

  3. Why is this important? Understanding the significance of my goals or actions ensures that they align with my values and priorities. It provides motivation and a sense of purpose, making it easier to stay committed.

Roadblock Questions

  1. What is the problem? Identifying the problem accurately is the first step in solving it. Clearly understanding the issue helps me focus my efforts on finding effective solutions.
  2. Who has faced this problem before? Learning from others who have encountered similar challenges can provide valuable insights and strategies. It saves time and helps avoid repeating mistakes.
  3. How did this person solve it? Studying successful approaches used by others can inspire and guide my problem-solving process. It offers practical examples of overcoming obstacles.

Life-Changing Questions

  1. How can I afford this? This question encourages creative thinking about my financial resources. It prompts me to explore different ways to finance my goals, rather than dismissing them as unaffordable.
  2. Who will help me pay for this? Identifying potential sources of support, such as family, friends, or investors, expands my financial options. It fosters collaboration and resourcefulness.
  3. How can I add more value? Focusing on adding value encourages me to think about how I can contribute more effectively. It can lead to better relationships, career advancements, and personal satisfaction.
  4. What does it feel like to... Imagining the experience of achieving my goals helps make them more tangible and motivating. It engages my emotions, making the pursuit of my goals more compelling.

There was a time in my life when I was struggling to decide whether to pursue teaching financial education to others.

I wasn’t a Financial Coach yet, I just had this burning desire to help others so they could avoid the mistakes I made.

Then I stumbled upon a video of Jim Rohn’s questions that helped me take action.

Jim Rohn’s 4 Questions to Ponder

  1. Why? We all ask why we should work this hard, read that many books, take that many classes, go to school for that many years, take the notes, read that much, work that hard, and put ourselves through the discipline of engaging in healthy living. WHY?

The best answer to "why" is the second question...

  2. Why not? Why not see how many books you can read, how many classes you can take, how many skills you can develop? Why not see how valuable you can become to the marketplace, to your friends and family? Why not see what you can make of yourself, how far you can go, or how much you can earn or share? WHY NOT?

    The third question to ponder...

  3. Why not you? Why not you with good self-esteem? Why not you starting to change? Why not you working towards financial independence? You have the brains, the stamina, the vitality, the skills—WHY NOT YOU?
  4. Why not now? There is no better time than right no. Why not now set goals to create a better future? WHY NOT NOW?

Asking the right questions can transform your life by providing clarity, overcoming obstacles, and turning failures into opportunities.

This practice nurtures personal growth and meaningful achievements.

I hope that the frameworks I shared will also help you achieve the life that you desire.
